Friday June 19, 1953
Left home at 7:15 A.M. in the
new Chrysler New Yorker. It was
a very hot day from the start.
Drove on 24 highway to Monroe
City where we went into 36.
Had lunch at Hannibal at the
junction of 36 and 61 highways. It
was a good fruit plate with
ice tea for the drink. We thought
we were getting by big as an un-
known traveling couple until
we went to the counter to pay
the bill. Just as we arose from
the table some county judges came
in and the incog[nito] was off.
